AC » March 15, 2006 MySpace IM Messenger Make way for a new IM client, and one which I think will take off like gangbusters with our younger users. MySpace is introducing MySpace Messenger. Combine the 1 social network online (yes, bigger than AOL, bigger than blogging) with an IM client and you have a zillion ready-made users. Aaron Schmidt offers his thoughts on how this will affect libraries on walking paper and gives us a coupla screenshots to boot. This is definitely one more IM client to consider monitoring if you're offering IM Reference. I'd say the big 5 will be (for a little while anyway): Yahoo, AIM, MSN, GoogleTalk, and this new MySpace Messenger. Gaim and Trillian will monitor the other four (with plug-ins for GoogleTalk). Now, if only Gaim and Trillian can start aggregating MySpace Messenger too we'll be good to go. I'm sure it will happen--give it a month or so.
